We approached this renovation and addition with a view to minimizing the impact of construction while giving the home a more modern image. The addition was designed to wrap the existing house with a cloak of limestone and Ipe (Brazilian walnut) rainscreen hardwood siding, creating an entry gallery, living room, kitchen, and master suite while keeping most of the original home intact.  All the original existing features and elements of the house, including brickwork and windows, were preserved and integrated with the interior of the house, reducing construction waste and gaining significant efficiency through the reuse of materials.
