How is Inspiration Translated into Architectural Design?

Writer's picture: Raffi ArzoumanianRaffi Arzoumanian

It is important to continually look for inspiration that can keep ideas fresh and be translated into design. I love photography. I wander on weekends or trips with my camera looking for interesting shapes, colors, and textures. These elements make designs more interesting, create a more interactive experience, solve design problems or simply added for visual appeal on an interior or exterior of a building to awaken our senses. I love the juxtaposition of man-made materials combined with natural materials; it breathes life into the design. Here are a few examples where my inspiration came to life in a project. The combined textures of natural wood and stone, against the brick and concrete, create a beautiful multi-dimensional effect.
