CANAAN VISION CENTER
CANAAN COMMUNITY CENTER
Every aspect of the exterior design contributed to understating the exact size of the structure. Long, low rooflines reduced the impression of height, while the building walls incorporated pilasters to break up the large dimensions. This tactic creates a play of light and shadow, which makes the center appear less massive. Transparent glass corners also reduced the overall building mass and flooded the interior spaces with light.
33,000 sq. ft. Community center combines 14 classrooms, 11 offices, commercial kitchen, 3 music rooms, 3 art and craft areas, babysitting facility, men’s and women’s clubs, 108’ x 60’ gymnasium, and 170 parking spaces into a complex that will expand with the congregation’s needs.
